Biography

Michael Tischler has been photographing his beloved New York City and his home away from home, New York’s Hudson Valley for over 40 years.

Since 2010 he has devoted himself to his project “Urban Landscapes”, which depicts New York as you might see it through an apartment window, creating what Tischler refers to as “rooms with a view”

Tischler’s intuitive methodology in photographing his subjects always starts with the very latest in digital equipment coupled with the specialized technique, HDR imaging which enables him to reproduce his pictures with a greater dynamic range of luminosity and clarity then can be achieved using standard digital imaging or photographic techniques.

Once an image is captured, the post-processing steps are handled with an equal level of intuition and attention to technology and detail. In the “dark room” Tischler uses the tools from a multitude of programs which allow him to manipulate his images and bring them to their final form.

Tischler’s cityscapes have been shown in multiple galleries in New York City including
Soho Gallery on West Broadway and Broome Street gallery in Nolita. Corporations such as DHL, The Ladders, RSC Solutions and Iberostar Hotels have purchased multiple images for their corporate headquarters, boardrooms, lobbies and common areas.

All his images are custom printed on archival aluminum which enhances their highly saturated color palette.

Tischler lives and works in New York
